Summit Health Management Named Business Of The Year

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ, December 5, 2017 – Summit Health Management (SHM) received a top accolade in the NJBIZ Business of the Year awards program, which recognizes the state’s most dynamic businesses and business leaders who share a commitment to professional excellence, business growth, and the community. Qualifying criteria include leadership, innovation and growth.

Finalists were honored at NJBIZ’s Business of the Year awards ceremony held last night. The Business of the Year awards are broken into five separate categories: Business of the Year (based on size: 1-50 employees, 51-100 employees and 101+ employees); Corporate Citizen of the Year; and Emerging Business of the Year.

SHM was awarded the top spot for the 101+ employees group, which had seven finalists in industries spanning across healthcare, law, construction, technology and food service.

Since its founding in 2014, SHM offers a proven value-based care model for the integration and growth of multispecialty medical groups. SHM’s innovative model is based on its experience and success in growing Summit Medical Group in New Jersey – a highly competitive market and complex regulatory environment – into a multispecialty group with five major care hubs, more than 80 locations, and more than 800 providers in 80 medical specialties.

As a physician-led and governed organization, SHM has a unique understanding of the challenging healthcare landscape, and has developed support services and made substantial investments in quality and population health management, physician leadership and governance, revenue cycle management and operations management. SHM has developed a highly-effective model that can be scaled and customized for other independent groups looking to adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

“Across the country, physician groups are faced with the quandary of continuing independently or partnering with large hospital systems or corporate entities,” says Dr. Jeffrey Le Benger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Health Management. “Our aim is to enable physicians to deliver the finest patient care with a focus on shared governance, physician leadership and strategic growth.”

Expanding its distinctive physician group management model beyond New Jersey, SHM recently announced a major partnership with Bend Memorial Clinic of Oregon and the formation of Summit Medical Group Arizona in the Phoenix metro market.

“Using our proven population health infrastructure, we can ease a medical group’s transition to a value-based care model,” says Jamie Reedy, MD, MPH, Chief of Population Health at Summit Health Management, who received the Business of the Year award on behalf of SHM.
